Pittman will step out in the women’s 400-metre handicap at the three-day meet.
Fresh from representing Australia in the two-person bobsleigh at the Sochi Winter Olympics in February, Pittman is using Stawell as a launching pad towards the 2016 Olympic Games.
“I’m thrilled to be able to launch my campaign for the Rio Olympics at such a prestigious event,” she said.
“The Stawell Gift has always held a special place in Australian athletics and it will be an honour to compete alongside some of the best sprinters in this country.”
Pittman will join Australia’s fastest ever female sprinter Melissa Breen as a major drawcard at Central Park.
Breen is taking on the men in the Stawell Gift, in which she hopes to be the first female to reach the semi-finals.
Pittman said it was going to be a long, hard road back to track.
“An event like this is the perfect platform to set a benchmark to work off.”
The Stawell Gift Carnival begins on Saturday, April 19, with the Gift final on Monday, April 21.
The women’s 400m heats will be run on the Sunday and final on the Monday.
