The United States-based Troop has confirmed the Gold Coast in 10 weeks will be his last marathon in Australia.
Troop, 41, who contested the Boston Marathon at the weekend, is from Geelong but did spend several years based in Ballarat training under the guidance of Steve Moneghetti.
He is a three-time Olympian, competing in the marathon at Sydney in 2000, Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008.
Troop first represented Australia at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, contesting the 5000m and 10,000m.
He was Australian marathon champion in 2006.
GREYHOUNDS THURSDAY
WITH the Warrnambool Greyhound Cup heats tonight, Ballarat has again moved away from its regular Wednesday night racing timeslot.
Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club instead races on Thursday night this week.
This will mean another Ballarat greyhounds-harness racing doubleheader on that night with Ballarat and District Trotting Club running its annual “Girls Night Out” fund-raiser for “Support4Cancer”.
