The tournament, free of entry, will run from June 16-17 exclusively for primary school children.
Ballarat Futsal Centre manager Corey Smith says now is the perfect time to help get local schools involved in the sport.
“With the World Cup coming up it’s a big opportunity to get schools active and into a non-AFL sport,” he said.
“We’ve opened up to all schools – Ballarat High School students are volunteering to help out on the day and we have six schools around the Ballarat district so far.”
“We want to offer something free for the community.”
Smith says there are enough students currently entered to field more than 20 of the 32 teams contesting this year’s edition of the World Cup, but says the facility is big enough to accommodate the full number.
Next Monday will see prep, grade one and grade two students take to the pitch while grades three and four will play next Tuesday.
Entries close this Wednesday.
