Infinite MMA’s Rob Gravenall, Sam Hayward, Dan Currie and Kyle Sinclair all won gold at Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitions, held in Tasmania and Melbourne over the weekend.
On Saturday, Gravenall travelled across the Tasman to compete in the AFBJJ Tasmanian Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu state titles.
He showed far superior technical ability, cleaning out his division and winning each bout in under two minutes, displaying a wide variety of techniques.
His victory was extra special as it was his first state title, won travelling on his own.
The rest of the fight team was preparing for the inaugural ISJA Submission Only Victorian Titles the following day.
The submission-only rule encourages competitors to fight for the submission finish, and if time runs out and neither fighter has submitted, both rivals are eliminated from the tournament.
Hayward, Currie and Sinclair all dominated their respective divisions, each winning in emphatic style, with the longest bout lasting only three minutes.
Club members Luke Jarvis and Yu-ting Wang each claimed second place in their divisions.
Infinite MMA has been open for three years, with last weekend’s results taking its tally to 211 winning bouts in state, national and international competition.
