Club president Lisa Taylor said it was a big occasion for the group, which was founded by Robert Cook, one of her teachers at the Ewing House School for Deaf Children, in 1974.
Since the 1970s, the club has served as a hub for many of the region’s deaf residents, and has welcomed people from all over Victoria.
Ms Taylor and club secretary Marg van Leeuwen host events every month, and recently celebrated Regent Cinemas’ decision to start screening subtitled film sessions of recently-released films for deaf cinema-goers.
“(The club is) important for our members, to stop them from being lonely and isolated,” Ms Taylor said.
The anniversary party on July 26 will be at the Ballarat Golf Club.
