College beaten in football grand final

BALLARAT Clarendon College has relinquished its grip on the AFL Victoria Herald Sun Country Shield.

College, which had won seven of the past eight country football titles, suffered a 14-point defeat from Warrnambool's Emmanuel College in Wednesday's grand final at Central Reserve, Colac.

The Ballarat boys led the match by a solitary point at three quarter time, before Emmanuel kicked the only goals of the final term to snatch the victory.
