The Redan player polled 21 votes to claim her second consecutive league best and fairest award in Wednesday night’s count at Ballarat Lodge.
Lake Wendouree’s Anna-Maria Rice finished second on 16 votes, while Sebastopol’s Maddison Kawa and Golden Point’s Winona Greenhalghs tied for third on 14 apiece.
McDonald, 16, polled 27 votes to snag her first league award in 2013.
The talented onballer described this year’s win as a “bit of a shock”.
“It’s pretty unbelievable, obviously because it hasn’t happened before,” McDonald said.
“I thought I would have played pretty similar to last year, but of course the league’s developed a long way, so I thought there would have been a lot of other girls up there who would’ve definitely got a few more votes that I did.”
Hawthorn premiership star and Norm Smith medallist Brian Lake was present as a guest speaker.
Redan had a stellar night, with youth girls coach Chris Wilson picking up the coach of the year award, while McDonald’s teammate Hayley Smith finished seventh in the count on 11 votes.
Meanwhile, Lake Wendouree’s Tylah Bruhn claimed the league goal-kicking title, with 62 majors.
Ballarat’s Liz French was handed the co-ordinator of the year title, while the Maryborough Castlemaine District League’s Brandon Weatherson picked up the achievement trophy.
