The 11-year-old is setting the hockey pitch alight, despite the fact he usually plays against athletes older than himself.
Jackson plays for the under-15 Blaze hockey team and also represented Ballarat, as well as the under-13 south-west Eagles representative team in the state championships in July.
However, his feats do not end there.
Remarkably, the Ballarat Clarendon College grade 5 pupil also plays for College’s intermediate hockey team, made up of students from years 7 to 9.
His mother, Kay Jackson, said her son simply lived for hockey, although he had tried a number of other sports, including indoor futsal and soccer.
“He just loves it. He tries his absolute hardest every single week,” she said.
“He was the youngest in the Eagles team and started out playing in the under-15s last year, even though he was only 10.”
Jackson normally slots into his favourite position at full-back, although his speed is often used on the wings.
“Ben just loves playing down back in defence. He doesn’t care that much about scoring goals,” Ms Jackson said.
