With just one week of winter left, the sunshine Ballarat has basked in over the past few days has all but disappeared but will peep out again by Wednesday. Today will be cloudy with a shower or two from early this afternoon. Winds northwesterly 15 to 20 km/h tending westerly 20 to 25 km/h in the morning then tending southwesterly in the evening. Top of 12 degrees. The overnight low was 5.8 degrees at 6.30am.
POLICE
Ballarat Police had little to report overnight.
However, a fatal accident occurred about 4.30pm Saturday at Mount Burnett, south-east of Melbourne.
Police said it appears a motorbike travelling east along the Pakenham Road, crossed to the other side of the road before colliding head on with an oncoming car.
The motorbike rider, a 29-year-old man from Pakenham, died at the scene.
The male driver and female passenger in the car were uninjured.
FIRE
Ballarat firefighters had an extremely busy Saturday night, attending four fires , two alarms and reports of explosions.
Fire investigators are on the scene after a large fire at a Lal Lal commercial nursery. Ballarat City Fire Brigade's breathing apparatus support crew was also called due to the large number of chemicals located at the scene.
There was also a tree fire at Black Hill lookout, a house fire in Primrose Street, Wendouree West, and a non-structure fire in Butt Street, Canadian.
The crew also attended following reports of explosion noises at the Buninyong football ground and two false alarms at St John of God Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth Centre in Ascot Street.
AMBULANCE
Ambulance Victoria also had a quiet evening.

While the Ballarat line is running on time, there are still disruptions to the Geelong service following Friday's collision between two Melbourne and Geelong trains.
