Buninyong, Mount Buninyong and Ballarat City trucks were called the Haywards Road fire about 11pm.
About 20 firefighters battled the fire that destroyed four of five hot-houses used to grow aqua-type plants.
The Ballarat City truck was deployed to the scene to provide breathing apparatuses for the firefighters at 12.09am.
The fire was extinguished about 12.30am on Sunday.
Ballarat regional duty officer Gavin Hope said the fire did not appear to be suspicious.
“At this stage, the cause is unknown,” Mr Hope said.
Investigations into the cause of the fire will continue.
“It had the potential to be a serious fire, there was a fair bit of oil and other chemicals in the area,” he said.
Earlier in the evening Ballarat City attended to a tree fire at Black Hill Lookout and two fires in Wendouree and Canadian.
Ballarat City senior station officer Terry Fradd said crews were called to Primrose Street in Wendouree at 8.21pm following reports of an explosion.
“There was no signs of fire (when crews arrived), it was something to do with the heater,” Mr Fradd.
“We used a thermal imaging camera to make sure no excess heat was in the room.”
Crews were also called to a bonfire in Butt Street in Canadian.
“It was a bonfire with aerosol cans flying out everywhere,” Mr Fradd said.
“The owner had notified Vic Fire but didn’t realise there were a couple of cans in the pile of wood.”
Mr Fradd said crews could not find anything at Buninyong Football Club following reports of an explosion in the area about 11.11pm.
