Geddes shares the lead in points standings in the Australian Competition Eliminator Championship.
The Miners Rest-based Geddes joined Alistair McClure at the top of the table with the help of travel bonus points in Alice Springs.
He is vying for a third national championship and second in the competition eliminator class.
Geddes changed vehicles several months ago.
"Even though we haven't actually had a win this season, we are collecting some good points and the trip to Alice Springs certainly helped the chase," he said.
"I must admit, we are struggling against some very fierce competition from the guys in WA at this point."
Geddes now faces another class switch to a lighter vehicle and smaller engine in an attempt to become even more competitive as his team make necessary changes to find a championship win.
He said they had just finished changing the engine in an attempt to gain an advantage.
"We have made steady progress so far and have been pleased with the results," he said. "We've needed to rethink our car set-ups.
"I don't have a preference in regard to which car I drive providing we are having some success and continually move forward in a positive manner."
Geddes' next outing will be round nine in Mildura on September 13-14.
Geddes is not only looking to a big finish to this year.
"We're already planning another class change for next season," he said.
"The current car is on the market as we await the arrival of a 2011 built Prostart Dragster complete with Liberty air shifted five speed transmission."
