McDermott has joined the Crows with former City player Joseph Mason and ex-Waubra forward Rohan Brown, who arrives as an assistant to senior coach Dale Power.
The trio follows hot on the heels of Old Camberwell duo Jack Duke and Jake Hart, who have already signed.
McDermott looms as the most exciting addition and is expected to assist with rucking duties alongside Jake Garvey, who was last season named in the Central Highlands Football League team of the year.
Garvey has also stepped up as an assistant to Power for 2015.
McDermott played in the 2013 flag for North City, pushing his way into the side during the finals when Tristan Cartledge broke his hand.
He played seven senior games and six reserves games this year but was not part of North’s back-to-back premiership team.
Mason, likely to bolster the Crows’ midfield options, played all his junior footy at Eureka Stadium, but was only able to manage three senior games throughout the 2014 season, playing most of the year in the reserves.
Brown is a structurally important pick-up for the Crows in attack and will be Power’s right-hand man.
He makes the move after playing in the Roos’ reserves grand final defeat alongside brother Lee last season.
“Jake Garvey is having his first year as assistant so he’ll be learning the caper, but Rohan is from a pretty good footy background and has got a good understanding of the game and some ideas he is already putting forward to implement at the club,” Power said.
Power said the club was probably ahead of where it thought it would be in a busy off-season of recruiting.
“We are definitely pleased, pleased to have a few in the books in areas we probably identified to target,” he said.
Power is preparing for his second season in charge of the Crows, which he took to seven wins and 12th spot on the ladder in 2014.
