Part of The Courier's Good Food Ballarat, the event on November 28 at the Mining Exchange will see students create dip made from produce from the school's garden.
Hospitality program manager Deb Agnew said it would be a great experience for the students, who already have some experience catering big events.
"It'll be wonderful having the students helping out ... this program is about getting the students real world experience," she said.
"This program works so well for these kids, who can't necessarily sit in a classroom."
The Farm Bakery Cafe will also provide bread for the degustation dinner the next night, and baker Josh Chapman said it would be exciting to work with famous chef Stefano De Pieri.
"We'll be working with him to get the breads right for the dinner. I'm pretty nervous to speak to him, to be honest," said Mr Chapman, who is a professional baker.
The offering for the Family Hawkers Market will be an "artist's palette" of dips and bread, and a fruit bread will be made for Mr De Pieri to go with the cheese course.
The Courier's Taste of Ballarat Degustation Dinner, featuring Stefano De Pieri, will be held at The Mining Exchange on November 29 from 7pm. Tickets cost $170.
