Construction workers were spotted on Sunday afternoon repairing the inside of the clock's face.
According to VicTrack spokeswoman Anna Poulos, the works were being conducted to ensure the clock was back ticking for commuters as soon as possible.
"About a week and a half ago the clock stopped working," Ms Poulos said.
It is understood there had been an issue with the rimming and rubber steel within the clock, which was to believed to be blocking the clock's hand from moving.
She said the clock was monitored daily by staff.
"They hoped to resolve the issue on Sunday as it is the quietest commuter day," Ms Poulos said.
