Wilson has armed himself with new songs and he wants to share them with Ballarat audiences on Saturday night.
“It will mainly be original music from my previous albums and some new stuff,” he said.
“I’ve been working on some new songs, so I’ll preview them on the night.”
Speaking about his new songs, Wilson said he had spent considerable time of late compiling the new material.
“In some ways they’re a little different, lyrically, but in other ways they’re the same because they come from me,” he said.
“I’ve been riding a train a lot of late so they focus around people I’ve seen on my travels.”
Having become a regular on the Ballarat music scene over the years, Wilson said he took great joy in driving up from his Geelong home to perform in Ballarat.
“I always look forward to coming back to Ballarat,” he said.
“It was a really memorable gig at The Main bar last time ... people were really attentive.”
He said the opening of new live music venues like The Main Bar in Ballarat over the last half a decade ha d brought back memories of performing in the city early in his career.
“A lot of venues closed down at one stage, now they’re starting to spring back up,” he said.
“Now it feels like there is a similar feeling back.”
Wilson will perform at The Main Bar on Saturday, April 18. All tickets $20, doors open 7.30pm.
