The Strikers will clash with Boroondara Eagles in round three action on Morshead Park’s premier pitch on Thursday night.
Ballarat enters the Football Federation Victoria-sanctioned event in a rich vein of form, having won four of its five women’s state league one matches, but will need to step it up a notch against the Eagles, who are second on the women’s premier league table.
Strikers coach Rick Romein believes the match will be a strong indicator of how much the team has improved in 2015.
“We’re using it as a gauge to see how far we’ve gone and see how far we have to go,” Romein said.
“We’re not so much confident, because we’re very much aware that we’re up against a very strong premier division side.
The Strikers have been the most potent team in state league one, scoring 19 goals to date, and Romein believes Boroondara can be exploited defensively.
Millie Martin is a late omission for the match set to start at 7.45pm.
