The Country Fire Authority was originally called to the home after reports of a fire were made at the Marino Drive home.
No one was present at the house when the fire started or when police arrived at the scene with a warrant at 10am.
CFA operations officer Anthony Pearce said the CFA had notified police after the discovery.
Mr Pearce said three units attended the fire which was contained within 10 minutes.
He described the fire as being a "reasonable size" in the roof space.
Investigations are still ongoing into the discovery.
