Come the weekend and they’re flaunting their style in pinup competitions.
In June they will take part in the 2015 Miss Pinup Australia state finals, hoping to represent Ballarat in the finals later this year.
The mothers, who are both relatively new to the pinup competition scene, will take to the stage, vying for the title of Miss Va Va Voom.
Ms Rush, known in the pinup world as Miss Lippy Lush, said the competition was a chance for both women to challenge themselves away from their everyday jobs.
“I felt I needed a bigger challenge. I thought the Camperdown and Ballarat competitions were big, but this will be bigger,” she said.
She said the competition was a great opportunity to celebrate women of every age and all shapes and sizes using 1940s- and 1950s-inspired themes.
“You gain more confidence in yourself. It’s not just about your size or your outfit, it’s about growing as a better you,” she said.
“I think people like it because it is about the confidence in you, it’s a celebration of who you are and loving that.
“Everyone has been working hard. You would love to get the crown but at the same time that’s not what it’s about. We just hope to put on a good show for the crowd.”
Miss Lippy Lush and Miss Voluptuous Vixen will be judged across four categories – daywear, swimwear, lingerie and a talent section – with nine finalists to represent Victoria at the grand final in July.
