BAND members from some of Australia’s best-known music acts will join forces as The People and take to the stage in Ballarat.
The band, featuring musicians Alex Formosa Baudo, Ron Peers, Ric Formosa and Michael Oliphant, will perform at Suttons House of Music on Friday.
The People frontman Alex Formosa Baudo has performed for 30 years alongside artists including Paul Kelly and Jenny Morris and has had international success in Europe and Canada.
He said The People aimed to provide audiences with “a really good night of musicianship, good songs and a good night out in Ballarat”.
"We’ll be doing a cross-over set of rock and soul music including some nostalgic stuff and everything from Dustry Springfield to Hall and Oates.”
The People has performed across Victoria for almost a year, with its line-up changing for its different shows.
The band’s individual musicians have previously graced Australian stages alongside groups including Little River Band, Ian Moss, Stylus and Tina Arena.
Formosa Baudo said his band members came from similar circles, with a “good chemistry” existing between them.
“I pull in different line-ups all the time, so I have this particular line-up and another two with different musicians,” Formosa Baudo said.
“We play all over Victoria with this group and we know each other from way back.
“We all get along really well and have an understanding of the music, which is primarily rock and soul based.”
