Darren James McDonald, 36 of Rogers Crt, Ballarat East, appeared before the court charged with the July 1 sexual assault of two young girls at Golden Point.
He is facing the following seven charges:
*Two counts of sexual penetration on a child under 16,
*Two counts of indecent acts with a child under 16,
*Aggravated burglary,
*Theft, and
*Theft of a motor vehicle.
Legal counsel for McDonald, Brett Bryant, did not apply for bail.
McDonald, wearing handcuffs and a red and white rock music baseball shirt, appeared calm in the dock through most of the proceedings.
As the proceedings came to a close McDonald asked magistrate Barry Docking if he could address the court.
``All I want to do is talk to those guys on tape,'' he said, gesturing to Sexual Crimes Squad Detective Senior Constable Brett Eldridge.
McDonald was arrested by Ballarat police three weeks ago on other charges and was interviewed by detectives from the Sexual Crimes Squad, at his request, last week.
Last weekend he said he wished to speak to the detectives again.
But Ballarat magistrate Rowan McIndoe, after hearing evidence from Ballarat general practitioner Jill Ramsay, ruled on Monday McDonald was not in a fit psychological state to consent to an interview with police.
Swearing frequently yesterday, McDonald said he wanted to speak to the detectives on tape ``and tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help me God''.
McDonald then began abusing the magistrate Mr Docking, who ordered police in the dock to let McDonald have his say when they began bundling him out.
But Mr Docking ordered McDonald be returned to his cell when he turned his abuse on the court room, describing the people in the room as ``dogs''.
McDonald was remanded in custody to appear in Ballarat Magistrate's Court on December 13.
