The long anticipated project began this week with specialist teams removing asbestos from the old site.
Hepburn Shire Council mayor Kate Redwood said the demolition would be completed “within the next few working days”.
User groups fought hard for the jointly funded state government and council project.
In 2014 Daylesford Football Netball Club president Bernie Jurcan told Fairfax Media the redevelopment was a massive a win for the club and community.
"It became a bit depressing to go to the park and see such a run-down facility," Mr Jurcan said.
"We had holes in the walls from possums and they would come down into the rooms during functions - it wasn't good.
"This redevelopment will change all of that and instill some community pride."
Revegetation of the area will also be a fundamental aspect of the project.
Exotic and mature trees will be planted to ensure the area continues to be green and well preserved.
“It’s a really exciting project,” Cr Redwood said.
“It’s one that has had such fantastic community support.”
The redeveloped rooms will allow the venue to be hired out for functions and other important community meetings.
“It will be particularly important for our emergency services, if we see another event like in 2009 (Black Saturday), Victoria Park is an evacuation area,” Cr Redwood said.
The work is expected to be completed by April next year.
“The project is really important, not only for the many user groups, but also for the wider community,” Cr Redwood said.
Council will contribute $500,000 and the community will raise $250,000 towards the $1.9 million redevelopment.
So far $65,000 has been raised through generous community donations, but Cr Redwood said a crowd funding campaign would begin soon, to amp up fundraising efforts and ensure the target could be reached.
