Kurt Aylett and Lauchlan Dalgleish, who both graduated through the Rebels’ TAC Cup side, were axed from the Bombers’ list during the week.
Essendon general manager football operations Rob Kerr said both young men had displayed outstanding character and commitment during their time at the club.
“Lauchlan and Kurt have endured injury interrupted seasons, and they should be commended for their dedication and professionalism to get back out on the football field,” Kerr said.
“To pull on the jumper for the Essendon Football Club is something special, and Lauchlan and Kurt can be proud they did so at senior level on several occasions.
“Both played some terrific football in the VFL this season, and they were major contributors to the team reaching a preliminary final.
“We wish Lauchlan and Kurt the very best for the next chapter in their football careers and future endeavours.”
The duo’s departure take the current number of list changes to five, with Dustin Fletcher, Jason Winderlich and Paul Chapman retiring.
Aylett first arrived at Essendon for the 2014 season.
He was originally drafted by GWS Giants, where he originally played just one game before being traded to the Bombers for pick 48 in the 2013 national draft.
Originally from Leeton in southern New South Wales, Aylett was recruited as a 17-year-old in a special draft a year before GWS joined the AFL home and away competition.
He was signed to a four-year deal under an an arrangement which allowed the Giants to recruit 16 youngsters from NSW over a four-year period.
He damaged an anterior cruciate ligament in August, 2011, before returning to make his AFL debut in 2012.
Dalgleish, originally from Ararat, was drafted to the Bombers at pick number 11 in the 2012 rookie draft.
Originally a sprinter, he won the 120-metre Terang Gift in 12.25 seconds three days after missing out in the national draft, only to be picked up as a rookie months down the track.
He made his AFL debut in round 21 of the 2013 season, playing three games and kicking one goal for the season.
However, he was unable to earn another senior game, playing 56 senior games in his four season with the Bombers.
A total of five Ballarat exports have been delisted this year, including Jed Adcock (Brisbane Lions), Clinton Young (Collingwood) and Brett Goodes (Western Bulldogs), while Adam Goodes (Sydney) called the curtains on his highly-decorated career. -AAP
