As part of the city’s biggest food event Kittelty’s will host host a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party with food fit for the Alice in all of us.
Describing the event as a “through the hole experience”, co-organiser Suzi Fitzpatrick said the tea party has been designed to be a “posh” high tea.
"We wanted to do something a bit different and we wanted to add a different element," she said.
Getting together a team of performers specially for the event, including Australian Ballet dancer Steve Hodge, Ms Fitzpatrick said the event would incorporate all aspects of a good party.
"The night has been broken into different elements," she said.
"We will have a dance floor, and have taken inspiration of songs by bands who have sung about Alice in Wonderland.
"And we will have a singer singing Wonderland the Musical in cabaret style."
While the extravagant night of performers has many people talking, it's the food that has everyone excited.
Ms Fitzpatrick said the high tea style event would include many favourites featured in the original Mad Hatters Party, including a leg of mutton, oysters and cucumber sandwiches.
"It's going to be a play on those incredible foods," she said.
"We will also be matching champagne and wine with the food."
While the location of the event had been kept under wraps, Ms Fitzpatrick said she can now reveal it will be held at the old Golden Point Primary School.
"That was built in 1865, the same year the book was published,” she said.
With those attending encouraged to dress up, Ms Fitzpatrick said the tea party was set to be an evening full of fun not to be missed.
"I think it will be an opportunity people will regret missing out on," she said.
Local businesses including Cecily Davies will also be attending the event with vintage items and hats available to purchase on the day.
Kittlety's Mad Hatter Tea Party will take place at the Golden Point Primary School at 102 English Street between 7pm and midnight on Saturday, October 14.
Only 80 tickets remain. $140 per head, includes food and drink.
