Boom 2015 recruit Michael Searl has been widely tipped to be at the helm next year and it is anticipated that the GJ Gardner Tigers will name a joint coach to assist him in the role.
Simpson enjoyed a dream one-year stint as coach of Springbank, leading the club to its first senior premiership since 2001 with victory over Gordon in last month’s Central Highlands Football League grand final.
Meanwhile, Carngham-Linton is close to naming its replacement to former senior coach Glenn Treacy, who declined to continue in the position following the 2015 campaign.
Ballan and Clunes are the other Central Highlands clubs yet to announce a senior coach.
The Blues told Mark Williams they were looking in a new direction last week, while the Magpies will replace joint coaches from last season Jason Hill and Michael McKenzie.
