Starting November 23, the workshops will be run by the state government as it finalises its Renewable Energy Targets.
Environmental group Friends of the Earth said government, industry, community and householders all had a role to play when it came to growing renewable energy in Victoria and tackling climate change.
The group has called for a target of 30 per cent renewables by 2020.
In August, Premier Daniel Andrews pledged a baseline renewables target of at least 20 per cent by 2020. It was set prior to community consultation in September.
The state government will soon release its Renewable Energy Action Plan, which will include the Victorian renewable energy targets for 2020 and 2025.
