The beloved red 1971 Ford F100 belonging to the Belmont Speedway Drivers Club was stolen from the from the Buninyong Redline Raceway last week, days before biggest meet of the year. In a twist of fate, just hours after Saturday night’s King of the Mount event, the truck was miraculously found parked in a vacant block of land behind Main Road by an eight-year-old boy. The boy had seen The Courier’s coverage of the theft on social media and told his father, who informed police. Club vice president Greg Raggatt said he was “absolutely thrilled.”
He said the truck was found in “good condition” and was being examined by police investigating the theft. “We were expecting it to be burnt out or chopped up somewhere,” Mr Raggatt said. “To have a positive outcome like this is incredible. A big thank-you to the young fella who found it for doing the right thing and to everybody else who helped with the search whether it was by keeping an eye out or sharing the story on social media.”
