The local indigenous artist has been awarded a year-long residency at the university of Melbourne, including a cash grant of $40,000 and up to $5000 for materials.
Set to be based at the Victorian College of the Arts, the award is part of the Hutchinson Indigenous Residency which was created to enable indigenous artists the opportunity to undertake significant projects of their choice.
Known for his digital, hip-hop and street art style, Muir has received innumerable accolades and awards for his work as an artist.
He said he was excited to be moving to Melbourne to further develop his work and tell stories of his life, people and the world around him.
“As a visual storyteller, research is very important to the development of my ideas and having access to resources at the University of Melbourne is going to be an amazing opportunity.
“I’m looking forward to learning new skills and dedicating myself to the creative life.”
