RESIDENTS of Kelaston Nursing Home have experienced the joy of eating an ice cream on a hot summer’s day.
Luigi's Gelato van visited the Wendouree facility on Wednesday and owner Luigi Cudia was busy, serving ice creams and gelato to a long line of residents, staff and their families.
Baileys and salted caramel flavours were popular.
Kelaston facility manager Kris Gerdtz said lifestyle staff Kim Jeffrey and Devina Lopes organised the visit. They plan to bring the mobile library to the facility soon.
“It’s about bringing the community to the facility so it’s more like home,” Ms Gerdtz said.
“We have a cafe here so it feels like the residents have an outing without leaving.”
Resident Tess Forbes could not have been happier eating her icecream.
“I love my ice cream,” Ms Forbes said.
While serving the naturally-made Australian ice cream, Mr Cudia said it was great to visit the residents and share something everyone enjoyed.
