THE Aldi store being constructed in Wendouree will continue to go ahead despite the problems surrounding the Masters Home Improvement store in the same homemaker complex.
If the Masters was to close it would leave the Aldi store as the only building in the major complex on Learmonth Road.
An Aldi spokesperson said the store was still on track to open in late 2016.
“When establishing a new store, ALDI considers the long term potential of the area and population numbers,” the spokesperson said.
“We work closely with local planning bodies like council, other businesses and community groups to ensure ALDI will positively impact the community.”
“Each of our stores supports 15 to 20 employees, providing rewarding career opportunities for local residents.”
It was announced earlier this week that Masters stores would be put up for sale and if the businesses are not bought by another company, it is expected they would close.
