CANCER patients in Hamilton will have fortnightly access to specialist oncology consultations in the township in a new partnership with Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre.
Ballarat-based medical oncologist Melanie Wuttke will be onsite to prescribe chemotherapy treatments, when needed, for Western District Health Services patients with support at BRICC from doctor Andrew Bradbeer for visiting patients. Work would complement WDHS’ monthly outreach and weekly telehealth service via the Andrew Love Cancer Centre in Geelong.
WDHS chief executive Rohan Fitzgerald said the partnership would increase quality options and better care for public cancer services in the southwest region. Consultations will be at Hamilton Base Hospital.
