She is in her first year with the Ballarat team after crossing from VNL rival Monash Uni.
Lawson, 28, is a former Australian under-21 representative, and has played with West Coast Fever and Queensland Firebirds in the ANZ Championship.
While originally from from WA, the Melbourne-based Lawson is not completely new to the Ballarat netball scene. She played with Buninyong in the CHNL last year.
The Sovereigns announced their squad captains and vice-captains at a season launch, which featured Australian Diamonds coach Lisa Alexander as guest, on Thursday night.
