The Front Bar, which reopened after undergoing renovations and a name change in July has shut its doors once again.
A spokesperson from The Front Bar at the corner of Peel and Mair streets, said the bar was closed for renovations and pending future development with the Rebellion Brewery, which will move to new premises next door.
Former manager Gary Morris declined to comment about the situation but did say: “I’m out of the business and am putting my focus into the Unicorn Hotel”.
In July, The Courier reported that plans were that the hotel will be connected internally to the brewery by the end of the year.
Rebellion Brewing office manager Nikki Rogers said as far as they were concerned, it would not affect them.
“It is our understanding that The Front Bar will be reopening but maybe under another name.
“The Front Bar premises still needs some renovating and things done to it and we hope to open at the same time together later this year,” she said.
“Rebellion Brewing will be a micro-brewery and bar where people can watch the production line, go on tours, sample beverages and sit at the bar and enjoy a drink.”
A posting on The Front Bar’s Facebook site on Tuesday night said: “Cutting strait (sic) to it guys. Unfortunately The Front Bar has been sold to another party. It will now be closed until further notice, and am unsure if they will stay with the name. It has been a pleasure serving everyone and thank you for your support!”
