To date more than $11,000 has been raised for the family through the page. Multiple collection points have been scattered across the town, with popular cafe Racer displaying a ‘Helmets for Christian’ donation point.
Fellow rider Steve Coughlan made a heart-felt video showing the support for Mr Ashby and his family days after the accident. Mr Coughlan was riding around the lake the day of the accident.
“As a result, many of those who follow me have been asking to be kept updated on Christian's progress,” Mr Coughlan said.
“When I saw all the concern, prayers and well-wishes coming in for Christian from all over the world, I wanted to somehow pass them on to him ... but didn't know him personally. “I saw it as an opportunity for me to not only personally support the Ashby family, but also to make a video that would really show Christian the support he had locally...”
