THE Railways Goods Shed in Creswick has received a $5000 grant to help cover the costs of building a new access ramp to help residents with mobility issues.
The funding was announced on Wednesday by Ballarat MP Catherine King.
The Creswick Railway Workshop Association secretary Judy Henderson said the group had been working for some time to have the ramp built.
“We were very happy because we had been working towards it,” she said.
“Little by little we have worked to try and improve the facility.
“It was very important because it increases the functionality and usability of the space. It will make a huge difference.”
The total project cost is worth $10,900, with the remainder of the funds coming from the project applicant, the association and other in-kind support.
Ms Henderson said the facility was used by the community for a variety of different events including a bazaar, a number of classes for children and local performances.
