A new measure to improve safety on the Midland Highway has been funded in the state government’s 2016-17 budget.
More than $10 million has been committed for the construction of four new overtaking lanes between Bannockburn and Meredith, benefiting Ballarat motorists who frequent the Geelong area.
The lanes will make it safer for motorists who wish to overtake slower vehicles and help boost productivity on a key freight route.
“Building these new overtaking lanes will get drivers where they need to be, sooner and more safely,” Buninyong MP Geoff Howard said.
It’s understood that VicRoads is investigating the best locations for the additional overtaking lanes.
