The Victorian Farmers Federation has praised the government’s multi-million dollar response to major pest detection and disease out break protection.
“The VFF and even the state’s own officers have been highlighting the risks of eroding funding for bio-security, which has been going on for years,” Victorian Farmers Federation President Peter Tuohey said.
The federation also praised the government’s $66 million investment in establishing more overseas Victorian Government Business Officers, with another $28 million committed to trade missions and export markets. Drought stricken farmers will get a $4.2 million boost from an investment in the Small Business commissioner’s farm drought mediation process.
