A BALLARAT man has been hospitalised after a vicious coward’s-punch attack in Bendigo this week.
Police are trying to identify two men involved in the unprovoked, one-punch attack in the Bendigo central business district earlier this week.
The Ballarat victim was instantly knocked-out during the attack and rushed to hospital.
Bendigo Police Senior Constable Andrew Steele said CCTV footage showed two men walking with the victim in the early hours of Sunday morning.
"The two were unknown to the victim, they were talking to him when, in an unprovoked attack, he's just been hit for no reason," Senior Constable Steele said.

"The single punch has rendered him unconscious straight away, he's fallen and the back of his head has made full contact with the pavement."
The victim – a 38-year-old man from Ballarat – was taken to Bendigo Hospital and discharged later that morning.
"It would appear the outcome was not life threatening in this,” Senior Constable Steele said.
“... but it certainly had that potential and we're still unsure whether or not he has sustained any long-term injuries.”
"He did sustain head injuries bit it seems, at this stage, that he was lucky."
The attack occurred at about 1.20am in Pall Mall near the offices of Slater and Gordon Lawyers.
The perpetrator was wearing a black top and blue jeans.
The other male was wearing a white or grey top.
“It would appear the two males knew each other,” Senior Constable Steel said.
“If anybody is aware of who they are or who was in that area at the time, we’re asking them to come forward and help to identify who the offenders were.”
Anyone with information about this crime should contact the Bendigo Police Station on 5448 1300.
