The station is under construction and remains on target to be completed by the end of the year, however, it’s understood that the state government’s announcement of a 17-kilometre stretch of duplicated rail between Deer Park West and Melton will lead to a minor review of the current planning process.
However, it is understood that it will not affect when the station is open for use.
Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan remained tight lipped on plans for the station when speaking at a press conference in Ballarat last week.
“There’s construction underway right now at Caroline Springs on a new station,” Ms Allan said.
“That’s planned to be completed by the end of the year with timetable changes that will need to be accommodated.
“What this program of works does means is that we can add more services into the future that will benefit the communities and stations right across the Ballarat line.
“We’ve not made any decisions yet on a timetable change for the line yet.”
