BUNINYONG has ended Waubra's unbeaten start to the Central Highlands Football League season.
The Bombers trailed the Roos heading into the last term, but finished the better of the two teams to clinch a 10.10 (70) to 7.9 (51) victory on Saturday afternoon.
As a result, Waubra has tumbled from the top of the ladder and opened the door for Bungaree to climb to the summit with success in the blockbuster against Springbank on Sunday.
As it stands, six teams are locked together on 20 points in equal top spot and that will be seven if the Tigers beat the Demons.
Elsewhere, Newlyn got home in the battle against arch-rivals Creswick by five points and Gordon was big winners against Smythesdale. While the Eagles won easily by 114 points, the Bulldogs turned in a much better display than the one that led to an epic 429-point drubbing in this fixture 12 months ago.
Dunnstown shrugged off a determined Rokewood-Corindhap to win by 28 points, Jack Duke kicked nine goals as Beaufort thrashed Carngham-Linton by 176 points, Matt Bond booted eight to help Learmonth prevail by 66 points against Clunes, Hepburn trounced Skipton by 118 points and Daylesford charged home in the last quarter to beat Ballan by 18 points.
Following Sunday's standalone fixture, the competition will break for the interelague weekend. The CHFL will take on Geelong and District in senior and under-18 matches next Saturday at Bungaree.
