FANS of American darling Loretta Lynn will be lookin’ at country next week thanks to a musical tribute to the beloved megastar.
Touring show Coal Miner’s Daughter features lookalike singer-songwriter Amber Joy Poulton as Lynn and Lizzie Moore as her friend and idol, Patsy Cline.
Married at 14 with four children at 19 and a grandmother at 29, Lynn is recognised for her groundbreaking role in country music as well as her arguably pioneering place in women’s issues and feminism.
Poulton said she was thrilled to be bringing the songs and stories of an “inspirational industry pioneer” to regional Victoria.
“Loretta is a superstar who rose from humble beginnings to be recognised as the first Queen of Country Music,” she said.
The show will feature hits including Coal Miner’s Daughter, You Ain’t Woman Enough, and You're Lookin’ at Country.
Coal Miner’s Daughter will be performed at Her Majesty’s Theatre on May 28.
