The move is one of several activities the club had planned for the week to help raise awareness about the issues affecting refugees and celebrate the positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society.
Ballarat Red Devils senior football director Andrew Burgess said the club’s junior and senior squads consisted of players from across the globe, from countries including Afghanistan, Burundi, Ghana, Papua New Guinea, Tanzania, Togo and Sudan.
Burgess said the club was proud of its rich cultural diversity and the respect and inclusiveness it fostered.
“We work hard to ensure that all players regardless of race or background have the opportunity to represent this city under the united banner of the Ballarat Red Devils,” Burgess said.
Refugee Week is an annual celebration of the positive contributions of refugees to Australian society.
