The hosts were in control for most of the contest, racing out to a 10 point lead by the end of the first term. And while the Spectres managed to extend their lead in the second quarter, the Rush managed to dig deep to win back the lead in the dying minutes of the final term.
Joy Burke led the way all evening for the Rush, shooting 23 points while heaping on the defensive pressure with 13 rebounds and five blocks. Captain Kerryn Harrington also played an influential role for the Rush with 18 points.
The result leaves the Rush in seventh place on the east conference ladder with six wins and seven losses.
Next weekend’s fixtures against south conference outfits Sandringham and Geelong are shaping as crucial matches if the Ballarat side are to contend for a finals berth.
