THE weather outside is frightful but that didn’t stop Ballarat residents from tucking into some delightful gelato over the weekend.
Il Piccolo Gelato is Ballarat’s first gourmet gelato bar and adds to the city’s flourishing foodie culture.
Owner and self-professed gelato lover Anthony Ransome admitted June was an unusual opening time but said for gelato lovers – the weather was no deterrent.
The former Sydney restaurateur wanted to give Ballarat a dedicated dessert bar. Currently more than 24 flavours including classics pistachio and lemon are available.
But Mr Ransome has more than 100 flavours that he will rotate through to ensure there is always something delicious on offer.
“They are very seasonal … and we use the best quality ingredients,” Mr Ransome said.
The store is located at 217 Sturt Street.
