CLUNES has broken a 13-match losing streak and left Carngham-Linton as the only winless team in the Central Highlands Football League.
The Magpies won the battle of the cellar-dwellers by 46 points at home on Saturday to register its first success since round 15 of the 2015 campaign.
Clunes’ 14.17 (101) to 8.7 (55) victory was the first for stand-in coach Ryan Hudson-Morgan and leaves the team 17th on the ladder with five rounds of the season remaining.
Meanwhile, Buninyong kept its spot at the top of the table thanks to a hard-fought 20-point win over Gordon.
The Bombers fought off the home side to inflict the Eagles’ second-straight defeat.
Beaufort bounced back from three-consecutive losses and sent Hepburn tumbling out of the top four with an 18-point success on Saturday, Springbank climbed to second after easily accounting for Newlyn and Dunnstown slipped outside the top eight after a shock loss to Creswick.
As a result, Ballan is now eighth on the ladder after beating Rokewood-Corindhap.
Other round 12 winners were Bungaree, Waubra, which jumped into fourth place after beating neighbours Learmonth, and Daylesford.
