The Miners sat one game outside the east conference top four at the start of the weekend, and a win against the in-form Brisbane Spartans on the road was a must.
While the visitors managed to create a lead of more-than 10 points midway through the second term, it was the hosts who had the majority of the play.
After a brief tussle in the third quarter, the Spartans began to exert their dominance, breaking out to a 20 point lead early in the fourth before running home 11 point victors.
The Miners had no answer for the versatile Brisbane side which had six players score double figures. Meanwhile Ballarat’s big-name imports in Roy Booker, Ollie Bailey and Earnest Ross were again heavily relied upon, shooting 80 of the Miners’ 101 points for the night.
