MOYSTON Willaura power forward John Vanderwaal has written his name into the record books after kicking 100 goals for the season.

Vanderwaal needed 23 goals to complete the fairy tale and he was able to surpass that by two on the weekend. He finished with 25 goals and was one of the better performers for the Pumas in their thumping victory over Great Western.
The miraculous haul meant the spearhead kicked a major at least every five minutes for Moyston Willaura.
Vanderwaal had snagged two 11 goal hauls in the opening two rounds of the Mininera District Football League, and followed it up with another impressive 13 goal afternoon against the Ararat Eagles.
Remarkably, Verderwaal managed to achieve the 100 goal feat in 13 games despite failing to score a major in round three.
Great Western coach Andrew Bach slammed his players for a lack of effort in Saturday’s clash.
The Lions were a realistic chance of an upset before star players BJ Burton and Justin Thomas were late withdrawals.
Bach said a lack of numbers was still no excuse for the way they played in Saturday’s match.
“There are no excuses for not being able to follow simple instructions,” Bach said.
“When everything else was failing we asked the boys to show effort and they didn’t respond.”
