An exhibition celebrating the importance of trees and the natural environment hopes to inspire people to put down new roots.
TreeART, which opened at Backspace Gallery, earlier this month, showcases the work of 15 local artists.
The exhibition will culminate on Sunday with tree planting at the Yarrowee River at Mount Pleasant.
Co-curator Colleen Fillippa, who founded tree planting company fifteen trees, said TreeART was an intersection of creativity and practical application.
“I’ve got quite a few friends who are artists, I’m always going to gallery openings and always hanging around with artists and creative people but always a little bit on the outer,” she said.
“It’s a great opportunity to call together artists, be a part of their world but also to draw people’s attention to the importance of looking after our environment and in particular getting some new trees in the ground.”
Yarrowee Leigh Catchment Group will be tree planting at the Yarrowee River on Sunday, July 31 from 10am to midday.
