BALLARAT’s Highway Patrol members will be out in force showing-off Victoria’s newest and safest car.
Dubbed The Guardian, Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe, is equipped with the latest safety technology and will be used as a tool to promote the importance of purchasing cars with features like auto emergency brakes.
The Victoria Police, VicRoads and TAC initiatives will see the car travel across the state during a year when authorities remain gravely concerned about the growing road toll.

Ballarat Superintendent Andrew Allen said The Guardian would be used by members to both enforce road safety and educate the public to think about the feature and capability of their car.
Superintendent Allen said some drivers’ inability to understand the limitations of the vehicles led to fatalities.
He said a recent double fatality in Daylesford and motorcycle fatality on Sunday night “could have been avoided” and urged drivers to be vigilant. Police have reminded drivers to be vigilant and not be distracted while on the roads.
