TWO important pedestrian crossings in Ballan have been completed.
In a boost for pedestrian safety, raised zebra crossings on Inglis Street will help the elderly and residents with disabilities cross a busy section of road.
Buninyong MP Geoff Howard announced the completion of the $150,000 upgrade on Friday and said 3700 vehicles travel along Inglis Street every day, validating the need for safety improvement.
“People can also cross with greater safely near Fisken Street, with the crossing there delivering improved connections to the shopping strip and recreational facilities,” Mr Howard said.
“I’d like to thank the Ballan community for their valuable input into the project, with ideas at a community session held last December leading to the two raised zebra crossings being built, as opposed to a single crossing with lights.”
