A five red star rating indicates an outstanding winery, ranked in the top 10 per cent nationa-wide.
Six other Pyrenees wineries were also awarded, including Dalwhinnie, Summerfield, Blue Pyrenees Estate, DogRock Winery, Mount Avoca and Taltarni. Each recipient had several of their wines score above 90 points, and in some instances over 95 points.
Mitchell Harris winemaker John Harris said they had achieved five wines rated 95 and above, including two 96 point reviews for their cabernet sauvignon and shiraz wines, as well as a 97-point review for their yet-to-be-released cabernet and shiraz blend.
Visit Ballarat CEO Noel Dempsey said the results were testament to the quality of product available in the region.
”It’s no wonder the Pyrenees is acclaimed nation-wide for its wineries.”
